Peter Douglass - the Company

The original company of Douglass Rhodes was formed by Peter Douglass and Bernard Rhodes in 1975 and traded from premises at Shaw Heath, Stockport.

The firm subsequently moved to Old Moor Road in Bredbury and became 'Peter Douglass Platforms'.

In 1984 the ever-expanding hire fleet of cherrypickers and staff moved to larger premises at Arden Hall.

Almost 20 years later, Peter Douglass (the man) decided to retire and in March 2002 the company 'Peter Douglass Platforms' was sold to the current owners, Phil Watson and Rick Wood.

Phil had been with Peter Douglass since 1975, both employed and later on a freelance basis and Rick originally joined the company as apprentice to Phil in 1980. Rick completed his apprenticeship in 1984 and was then employed by the company until he and Phil bought it in 2002.

Peter Douglass Platforms has expanded greatly under the new ownership and in 2005 moved from the Arden Hall premises to a much larger yard at Hollingworth Road, Bredbury with self-drive Hiab hire being added to the existing hire fleet of truck and van-mounted access platforms.

Phil & Rick are well-known for giving a personal service at all times; many customers have been with the firm for many years, but Phil & Rick are always on the lookout for new business!
